I am a middle aged born again artist. After spending the first half of my life raising kids, working and occasionally doing something creative I finally found my muse.
It would seem that when your busy with your everyday life most things become very mundane & routine. Mundane & routine translate into boring. Boring does not inspire creativity! So there I was living in a relatively happy but mundane world.
Then one day while driving around at the ranch I stumbled upon a new herd of cattle. For 50 plus years I had been seeing cows and trust me when I say I never looked twice! This was definitely a different group! I started hollering to stop the truck so I could get a better look. Then out of the middle of this group waltzed the most glamorous cow I had ever seen. She was spectacular, she was white with black spots, but most importantly she had eyeliner & eyebrows!! I was overcome with amazement as I looked around at the rest. None of them were ordinary, they had spots, freckles, multicolored faces and several had eyebrows! You just can't imagine what eyebrows can do to a cow's expression. There was nothing to do but get the camera and take tons of pictures to prove what I was seeing.
I started spending a lot of time photographing that herd and along the way I made a few discoveries. The most important was that I learned to look at the world differently. I started to see things I had never noticed before and see them in a different light. The second thing I learned was that it was okay for me to do things the way I wanted to do them. Not to worry about what anybody else thought and just go for it and not limit myself by other people's expectations. So now I work very hard at remembering to see the beauty and humor in everything I see.
